The Thompson NRS Curved (3/4in) is a negative rake scraper that makes finishing inside bowls and hollow forms straightforward. The catenary curve ground into the face matches the natural sweep of a bowl interior, so you're always presenting the right part of the edge to the wood rather than fighting the geometry.

Negative rake scrapers work differently from a standard scraper. The cutting edge is ground on the underside, which means the tool cuts with a very light, controlled shear rather than a dragging action. The result is a surface that needs far less sanding — often none at all on clean-grained timbers.

At 19mm wide and 7.9mm thick, this scraper has real mass behind it. That stiffness damps vibration and keeps the cut steady, even on a bowl that's slightly out of round. It arrives ready to use, already ground and sharp — no setup needed before your first session.

Made from CPM-10V powder metal steel — hardened to 62–64 Rockwell, triple tempered, and cryogenically treated. The tang is 7.9mm thick by 11mm wide.
