The Thompson NRS Curved (1-1/4in) is the large-format curved negative rake scraper — made for the inside of bigger bowls and deeper hollow forms where the smaller curved NRS can't reach or cover the surface efficiently.
The catenary curve ground into the face follows the natural sweep of a bowl interior, so the tool is always presenting the right geometry to the wood. You don't need to compensate or rock the tool — the grind does the work. The result is a smooth, consistent surface with minimal effort, and far less sanding than you'd need after a standard scraper.
At 31.75mm wide and 7.9mm thick, it has the mass to stay put under the tool rest even on a large, unbalanced blank. It arrives ready ground and sharp — you can put it straight to work.
Made from CPM-10V powder metal steel — hardened to 62–64 Rockwell, triple tempered, and cryogenically treated. Tang: 7.9mm thick by 15mm wide.
