The Thompson NRS Skewed (1-1/4in) is a negative rake scraper built for the inside of large bowls and open platters where you need to reach across a wide surface in a single controlled pass. The skewed profile lets you angle the tool so the leading corner does the work while the rest of the edge stays clear of the wood — giving you more control over exactly where and how you're cutting.
At 31.75mm wide and 7.9mm thick, this is a substantial tool. The width lets you cover ground quickly on the inside of a large bowl, and the mass keeps it stable under the rest. The negative rake geometry means it shears rather than drags, so the surface it leaves is genuinely clean — not just scraped smooth.
It arrives ready ground and sharp, so you can put it straight into your handle and start working. No initial grinding required.
Made from CPM-10V powder metal steel — hardened to 62–64 Rockwell, triple tempered, and cryogenically treated. Tang: 7.9mm thick by 15mm wide.
